Samsung Introduces Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Galaxy Tab S12+ Samsung has debuted its new lineup of premium Android tablets for on-the-go professionals and creatives who want to experience the productivity of a laptop with the convenience of a slim form factor.
The tablets, which were announced on 30 September 2026, went on sale in select regions from 7 October. Samsung is marketing the products as “a flexible work space for research notes editing, as well as creation and multitasking”.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is equipped with a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, and the S12+ has a 12.6-inch display. Both have an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness, providing clarity of text, image, and video in various lighting environments.
The Ultra is meant for those who regularly have multiple apps open, edit content and use their tablet as a second screen. The S12+ is more compact yet still gives users a spacious screen to read, write, and work.
Multi Window is a feature that works for browsing as well as watching. It enables you to put three applications on the screen at the same time. A student, for example, could view lecture notes and a document with an AI assistant, while a professional could be consulting reference material while writing a report.
Both tablets use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor, which is built on a 3-nanometre process. Based on Samsung, this new platform offers up to 19% faster CPU performance, 17% better GPU performance, and 61% faster neural processing compared to the previous generation.
The new processing power is made for high performance multitasking, creative work, and workflows with the new Galaxy AI. The tablets come with the latest software update, Android 17 with One UI 9, enabling new Samsung software experiences and tools to work on the big screen.
The performance improvements claimed by Samsung are derived from its comparison to the previous generation of the Galaxy devices independent tests will need to be carried out to determine how much speed has improved for the end-user with each app.
Both models come equipped with an S Pen, which enables the writing of notes by hand, annotating documents, drawing illustrations, and accurate selection. The desktop interface provided by Samsung DeX offers a more familiar environment for multitasking for those who have already used a laptop.
The optional keyboard covers provide physical keys and may be more comfortable for long writing marathons. Whether either can replace a traditional laptop depends on how much buyers want to pay for accessories.
Web browsing and research, sending, and receiving emails, writing documents, taking notes, and creating presentations – this may be what you use your computer for. For many people, that might be what is provided by this kit. Software development, drawing, and other specialised desktop applications, may still need a PC.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a 11,600mAh battery, while the S12+ has a 10,600mAh. Both are supported to charge at up to 45W. Samsung says the Ultra can last a maximum of 23 hours and the S12+ can last up to 21 hours, but these are based on testing, which may vary in real-life use.
