Choosing a medical school is undeniably the first step of the long journey of applying for Medicine. Type of Course

If you have done your homework before making this decision, you may already know that there are three different types of courses i.e. PBL, Traditional and Integrated. To stand a better chance of making a well-informed decision, you need to read up and research the different types of courses available to determine which one might suit you the best.

You can talk to students or even pay a visit to the university to experience days. Things are not any different for employers who want to enroll one of their employees in an occupational first aid course. That way, you can tell whether they are worth relying on or not.

Course Length

Medicine happens to be a five year course across most medicine schools. However, some schools require students to complete six years as they make an intercalation year compulsory. Of course, something like an occupational first aid course will only take a couple of weeks or months to complete. That’s why you need to determine before joining a university that offers medicine. If you have no idea on what to do, it would be better to pick universities that offer intercalation without it being compulsory.

Remember, some medicine schools also offer a foundation year if you do not meet the qualifying grades while filling the application form. For this reason, you may also have to make do with six years even if they don’t make intercalation compulsory.
