Lenovo Legion Go S: Design Unveiled Through Leaked Images

Lenovo is reportedly developing the Legion Go S, a handheld gaming console whose name the company unintentionally confirmed last month. Recently, leaked renders of the device surfaced, revealing its design. While it bears a resemblance to the Asus ROG Ally launched earlier this year, the Legion Go S features some distinct differences.

The most significant change is that the Legion Go S does away with the detachable controller feature of its progenitor. It also ditches the kickstand of the Ally and shrinks down the overall dimensions. On the front, you’ll still find 18 buttons, including your standard ABXY buttons, dual joysticks, and a D-pad, but the touchpad is gone in favor of a smaller input tool that looks similar to the TrackPoint cursor found on Lenovo laptops.

You’ll also notice that the power button is no longer located on the back of the device but at the top right next to a pair of USB-C ports. This may indicate that the device is attempting to reduce heat by moving the hotter components closer to the fan. The renders also show that the Legion Go S is set to retain a honeycomb-style reverse vent, RGB lights, and a pair of front-facing speakers.

As for the specifications, it seems that the Legion Go S aims to remain affordable while providing adequate gaming performance. It’s expected to arrive with an AMD Rembrandt processor, a step down from the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip found in the Ally and Legion Go. In a Windows Central report, the device’s model number, 8ARP1, was tied to this chip in an EEC filing.

As for the rest of the spec sheet, you can expect a 5,050 mAh battery and a triple-camera setup with a ToF sensor on the rear. The motherboard will likely be the same as inside the Ally, meaning you’ll get a 7-inch display and twin USB-C ports. Those interested in a potential release at CES 2025 can keep their fingers crossed, but it’s important to remember that these renders aren’t official and could be misleading. Take them with a grain of salt until you hear more about this budget-friendly handheld from Lenovo.
