The Carl Pei-led company’s highly-anticipated Nothing Phone 2 is finally available to pre-book in India before its official launch on July 11. Interested customers can head over to Flipkart and deposit Rs 2000, which will be fully refundable at the time of purchase. In addition to securing their spot in the queue for the phone, those who pre-book can also buy accessories at a discounted price.
As per the e-commerce website, the exclusive pre-order benefits include a 50 percent discount on the Nothing Ear (stick) and Nothing accessories package. Further, customers can enjoy instant cashback offers from leading banks on the phone. Regarding specs, the new smartphone features a transparent Type-C cable with a charging speed of up to 45W. It comprises 100 percent recycled aluminum on the mid-frame, 100 percent recycled copper foil and tin on the main circuit board, and 80 percent recyclable plastic parts.
Moreover, the device comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner for security and runs Android 13 with the company’s native UI on top. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 5G SoC enables fast connectivity and is paired with 8GB of RAM for heavy-duty processing tasks. The 4,700mAh battery should be good enough for moderate to heavy users.
While Nothing is still mum on the pricing, we know the device will be more premium than the original Nothing Phone. This should be due to the new Snapdragon chipset, but we’re unsure how much. The display will also be more prominent, and the battery should increase from 4,500mAh to around 4,700mAh.
The LED lights on the back, referred to as The Glyph, will be slightly reconfigured. Instead of a single strip surrounding the camera module, it will now be split into two symmetrical strips. According to a video shared by the company, this should allow for new light pulse patterns and other customization options.
Aside from that, the upcoming device is expected to be more functional than its predecessor. For example, it will support a new mode that lets you control the phone’s display by tilting it up or down to change its brightness level. The video also shows off a new app called The Glyph Store that will let you download custom light pulses.
Those interested in purchasing the phone should note that Flipkart’s pre-order page notes that they must return between July 11 (9 pm onwards) and July 20 (until 11:59 pm) to select the RAM and storage variant they want to buy. The remaining balance will be payable then, and the exclusive pre-order benefits will apply.
