The Indian smartphone manufacturer Realme will launch two new wireless earbuds alongside the Realme 11 and Realme 11X smartphones, the company revealed earlier this week. The new earbuds are Realme Buds Air 5 and Realme Buds Air 5 Pro. They have been designed to deliver 360-degree spatial audio for a more immersive listening experience.
The Realme Buds Air 5 and the Pro version look similar, with an in-ear design and a long stem. The only difference is that the Pro version has a glossy white case instead of the black one on the other variant. The bundled silicone ear tips are also colored differently. This helps users quickly identify the earbuds when not in their charging case. The case also has a small LED that shows the status of its battery, with a solid green for 100%, pulsing green between 20-100%, and flickering red below 20%.
As for the earbuds themselves, they have a touch control area on top of the headset stem. Double-tap or long-press can activate the voice assistant, play/pause music, switch modes, or toggle noise cancellation mode. The controls are easy to use and work well in our testing. The Realme Link app lets you customize the touch gestures as well.
Realme says the earbuds can play Hi-Res audio and support LDAC. The earbuds also have dual microphones for better call and voice detection. They also have a Qi-standard wireless charging case that will enable quick recharges when placed on a compatible charger mat. The case has a USB-C port on the bottom that can be used for wired connections.
Other specifications include a coaxial dual-unit driver, which the company claims can produce an optimal sound output with minimal distortion even at high volumes. The earbuds have an IPX4 rating and are water- and dust-resistant. The buds have a claimed battery life of up to 18 hours on continuous use. The earbuds also feature an intelligent noise-canceling mode that automatically adjusts the output based on ambient noise.
The earbuds have a Bluetooth 5.0 connection with support for AAC and aptX codecs. They also have a built-in mic that can be used to take calls. The Realme Buds Air 5 Pro also has a dedicated button on the headset that can be used to answer or decline phone calls, switch between hands-free and active modes, mute the microphone, and more.
Both earbuds will be available in India starting August 23. They can be purchased from Amazon. The e-commerce website has created dedicated microsites for the earbuds that reveal their key specifications. They will be priced at Rs 1,490 for the regular variant and Rs 1,999 for the Pro model. The earbuds will be available for pre-order starting today on the site. Pre-orders will run until August 24. The earbuds will be sold offline and online starting August 26.
