Besides releasing its new Galaxy Watch ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, the South Korean tech giant has been showing off numerous new designs of intelligent eyewear, which have been created in collaboration with fashion brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. These newest launches are part of Samsung’s larger efforts to move artificial intelligence out of smartphones and into every-day devices that users put on all day.
Also launched at Galaxy Unpacked in London were the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, which is billed as the high-end timepiece targeting athletes, outdoor lovers, and heavy-duty users, and the Galaxy Watch9, a more general health and wellness-focused wristwatch targeting casual users focused on sleep, heart health, workout, and recovery. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 offers a sturdy design and improved hardware for intensive tasks.
It is the first Galaxy Watch to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform. With an 800mAh battery, the Ultra2 offers 35% more capacity than the previous generation. Display brightness can be increased to as much as 5,000 nits, making it easier to read information in bright sunlight.
It is lighter than the battery but Samsung managed to make the Ultra2 Much slimmer. The manufacturer claims the new Ultra2 is 12 % thinner than its other version by improving the internal pieces. The band of the 47mm watch has been transformed in a lighter version (by 26 %) to ensure a more comfortable fit for those who work out regularly.
The Ultra2 caters well to serious runners and outdoor athletes with the addition of Trail Run. Offering data including elevation position, climb status and average ascent/descent, the watch can be a great benefit to those working out on tough terrain. The Galaxy Watch9 approaches matters differently.
Its feature set extends to everyday health and wellness, and day-to-day health tracking rather than on extreme sports and activities. Samsung is leveraging its AI capabilities to convert the biometric data into more tailored advice on sleep fitness general cardio health and recovery.
