A forthcoming iOS update may reveal how long it will take to charge your iPhone. Apple is expected to roll out iOS 18.2 in December, which will build on the Apple Intelligence features introduced in previous updates, including ChatGPT integration and Image Playground. The update will also enable iPhone 16 series users to activate Visual Intelligence with a long press of the Camera Control button, allowing the phone to use AI to provide information about what it is focused on.
Additionally, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone Pro Max users will be able to switch their device and Siri languages back to their original countries if they previously set them to US English for access to certain Apple Intelligence features. The update will also bring support for localized English variants in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand for these Apple Intelligence functions.
Aside from the above, the latest iOS beta has brought quality-of-life improvements to various apps, such as Mail and Notes. It will now take less time to download, and open emails, and selecting multiple photos in the Photos app will be possible. Moreover, the Notes app will allow you to edit text in rich-text format with an external keyboard.
According to a new report, the latest version of iOS has one extra feature that Android phones have had for years. It will display the estimated time it will take to fully charge your iPhone, which will be helpful for people traveling and wondering how much battery power they have left on their devices. This feature is currently available in the second beta of iOS 18.2 and will be included in the public release, which should arrive next month.
The update will be free to download for all iPhone Xs, XR, and XS Max owners and will be available on their respective Apple Store accounts starting today. It will also be compatible with the iPad Air, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch. However, the older iPhone 7, iPhone 8, and iPhone X models will no longer get software updates after it is released. The company will continue to support these iPhones through security updates for another year, but they won’t be able to run the latest versions of iOS.
Regarding timing, Mark Gurman at Bloomberg thinks that the iOS 18.2 update will land sometime during the week commencing on December 2, which is around a month ahead of schedule. He bases this on the fact that previous iOS updates have typically launched during that week. It will be a significant update, and it will be essential to see how well the iPhone performs with the latest Apple Intelligence tools. We’ll be covering it in detail as soon as it becomes available.
