Those looking to replay Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and mop up all the side quests might have to wait a bit. According to Insomniac Games Community Director James Stevenson, the developer will add a New Game + mode as part of a post-launch update. This will also include a mission replay feature.
He announced in response to a question from a fan on Twitter. He said that the company is “working on an update that will add New Game+ and mission replays, but they won’t be in Day 1.” He went on to say that the features should arrive sometime before the end of 2023.
The upcoming update will bring more content to an already robust open-world title, adding a fascinating New Game + mode, mission replays, and enhanced accessibility options. New Game + allows players to plunge back into the story with their existing level and some of their gadgets, weapons, and abilities unlocked. Typically, this mode increases the challenge with stronger enemies and even different combat encounters. In the case of Spider-Man 2, that might mean higher-level villains or a more aggressive and deadly Black Cat.
In addition to that, a day-one update will bring several other enhancements. Most notably, an auto-heal feature will fully replenish Spider-Man’s health if his focus bar is full. Additionally, improved color contrast will aid those attempting to master the Game’s precision dodges. Those who have purchased the disc-based version of the title will be advised to download the day-one update, also available for digital purchases.
For those completing the Game for the first time, it’s worth noting that there is a clear point of no return after completing the final boss battle. The Game will then give a notice that it will be impossible to continue exploring the city until you restart, and it’s not likely anyone will want to do so for a good while. Even so, there’s no denying that Spider-Man 2 is an absolute triumph of an open-world superhero title. With an engaging plot, fantastic gameplay, and exciting side activities, it’s a must-play for all PS5 owners. The title is slated to launch this Friday, October 20, exclusively for the platform.
