Tecno has been working hard on its first clamshell foldable smartphone, and a hands-on video of the upcoming device has recently surfaced online. The video indicates the device packs a circular cover display, which sits within a camera ring that houses the dual rear cameras. The device is rumored to have a 64MP primary camera and 13MP ultra-wide shooter, backed by an LED flash. Tecno is also believed to be using the cover display to show AOD elements and notifications, similar to what we have seen on other 2023 flip phones like the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Oppo Find N2 Flip, and Moto Razr 40.
The short video shows off the phone’s folding capabilities, and it’s worth noting that there’s a crackling sound when the phone is folded or unfolded. This is normal because of the Aerospace grade hinge on the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G. The hinge is also said to be tested for over 200,000 folds.
On the hardware front, the device is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC, which will be paired with an ARM Mali G77 GPU. It’s rumored to pack 8GB of RAM and run on Android 13 out-of-the-box. According to previous leaks, it will be available in Minimal Black and Periwinkle Purple color options.
A few days ago, a Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G pricing list was spotted on Google Play Console with model number AD11. This listing suggested that the device will be sold in India via Amazon, and it is rumored to have a starting price of Rs. 17,990.
These prices are likely accurate since the e-commerce site has already started accepting pre-reservations for the device. Users can reserve the Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G by depositing NGN 100,000 ($130) and getting two designer perfumes and 70GB of data for free.
The Tecno Phantom V Flip 5G is expected to be launched in Singapore on September 22. It will then be made available in other markets, including India.
